Licensing Guide
Please note:
- Depending on the IP, certain rights may not be available in specific regions or categories, or may be managed directly by third-party partners.
- We work exclusively with corporate entities and business partners. Licensing applications from private individuals are not accepted.
Flow of Commercialization
- 01
Project Proposal
Submit an initial proposal outlining your planned project. While there is no fixed template, proposals should outline key project parameters, including the target KADOKAWA IP/character, proposed products or campaign concepts, intended sales territory, target schedule, pricing, estimated volume, and distribution channels. Please also provide a brief company overview and any prior track record with IP collaborations. Following our review, our team will reach out to discuss feasibility or request further details.
- 02
Licensing Approval & Contracting
Upon project approval, we will present the commercial terms and licensing conditions. Once terms are mutually agreed upon, we will issue the standard licensing agreement and required application documents for execution.
- 03
Creative Review & Approvals
Following contract execution, we will supply the necessary high-resolution assets (artwork, design data, or logos). To maintain brand integrity and preserve the fidelity of the original work, all licensed items, digital assets, and promotional campaigns must undergo our creative review process at every development phase—including initial concepts, design drafts, pre-production samples, packaging, and marketing materials. Official approval is required prior to any manufacturing, distribution, or public announcement. Adjustments or revisions may be requested during this process.
- 04
Production & Official Product Stickers
For physical merchandise: Production may begin once all creative approvals are finalized. Depending on the IP, product category, and licensing territory, the use of official product stickers may apply. When applicable, sticker placement is mandatory, and stickers will be provided based on the approved production volume.
- 05
Final Sample Inspection
Prior to commercial launch or campaign/event rollout, final production samples (or completed digital deliverables) must be submitted for our records and final verification. The required sample quantity or submission format will be defined in the licensing agreement.
- 06
Release & Market Launch
With all approvals complete and samples verified, the initiative may proceed to launch. Based on initial performance, we welcome follow-up proposals for extended licensing terms, additional production runs, or expanded collaborations.
